Thermal imaging

Thermal cameras to measure temperature and detect invisible events

A thermal camera represents differences in infrared radiation. Depending on the camera type and calibration, it can detect people without visible light or identify temperature variations in equipment and processes.

What problem does it solve?

Perimeter detection and radiometric measurement are different applications. Temperature measurements depend on emissivity, distance, environment, reflections and device range; detection depends on target size and distance.

Coverage in Argentina: TECA designs and integrates projects for businesses, industries, institutions and distributed operations in Buenos Aires and other regions of Argentina.

Thermal camera monitoring industrial equipment

Expected outcomes

Nighttime perimeters

Detect people or vehicles without relying on visible lighting.

Industrial prevention

Alerts for electrical panels, motors, bearings or materials before major failures.

Continuous measurement

Trends and thresholds integrated with monitoring and maintenance.

What we assess before implementation

  • Goal: detection or radiometric measurement
  • Range, accuracy and minimum event size
  • Emissivity, distance and environmental conditions
  • Thresholds, calibration and confirmation procedures

Important limitation: The camera cannot see through walls or show internal temperature. It measures surface radiation and needs technical configuration for correct interpretation.

How we work

  1. Assessment of risks, operations and existing infrastructure.
  2. Design of architecture, coverage, communications and integration.
  3. Installation, configuration and testing using representative scenarios.
  4. Documentation, training and maintenance criteria.

Frequently asked questions

Can a thermal camera detect smoke or fire?

It can detect rising temperatures or hot spots before they are visible, but it does not replace a certified fire detection system on its own.

Does it work in complete darkness?

Yes. It captures thermal radiation and does not need visible light.

Do all thermal cameras measure temperature?

No. Some are designed for detection; measurement requires radiometric models and specific operating conditions.

Can it monitor electrical panels?

Yes, if the viewing angle, emissivity, distance and thresholds are set for the components being monitored.
